The Acid Test

I finally got around to making a new nappy cover for Roo, yesterday. Some that I made for her a year ago should still fit, but don't as they need more shaping around the thigh to allow for little growing bodies getting longer. The shape needs to be narrower around the leg instead of cutting across it, otherwise it drags the waist down and you need the next size up- one with more length through the crotch. I have found this problem with some commercial nappy covers. Maybe they are trying to accomadate the different ways people fold their inserts. I just fold my inserts into long rectangle layers, but I have also made shaped snap-in inserts which are handy.
Anyway, I made this one from navy sandwich PUL, white FOE and white snaps. It's a quick and easy way to make a cover, although I have noticed that white FOE tends to stain. I chased Roo around the house to get these photos. I think it fitted quite trim, considering it had 4 layers of hemp fleece and 6 layers of microfibre.

As for the Acid Test (pardon the pun)- it lasted the night with soaking inserts and no leaks. I think that's a great test for any nappy. Happy with the results.
